Clyde E. Duffey, Jr., 83 of Taylor Lane, St. Clairsville and former Barnesville resident died Monday, September 8, 2003 at the Barnesville Health Care Center.
He was born at Bethesda on September 12, 1919 a son of the late Clyde E. Duffey, Sr. and Mary Gayle Todd Duffey.
Clyde was employed by the Railway Mail Service for 20 years and retired after 13 years with the Wheeling Post Office. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served as an aerial engineer on a B-17 "Flying Fortress" with the 447th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He was also a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 159 and a life member of VFW Post 5356 all at St. Clairsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor O?Connor formerly of St. Louis, MO and Irene Hackett formerly of Barnesville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hawthorne Duffey; brother-in-law, John M. O?Connor of St. Louis, MO; nephews, James Michael (Joyce) Hackett of South Bend, IN and John "Jack" (Chris) O?Connor of St. Louis, MO; several grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday 5 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Laurie Armstrong officiating. Burial follows at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.
