Clyde Edward Carpenter, 89, of St. Clairsville, OH, moved home to be with his Lord on November 28, 2021, from Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio.

Born March 17, 1932, in St. Clairsville, he was a son of the late Harry O. Carpenter and Verna Taylor Carpenter.

Clyde was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family well and was known by all as a kind and honest man. He faithfully worked as an accountant for Ormet Corporation for 34 years and touched the lives of many students at Belmont Technical College, where he taught accounting. He loved his country and was proud to have served in the U.S. Army in military intelligence in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Clairsville Church of Christ, the Eastern Ohio Amateur Radio Association, and the American Legion Post #312 in Belmont.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Shirley VanNest Carpenter, in 2007.

Clyde is survived by his second wife, Linda Kidder Hogue Carpenter; his son, Scott (Carol) Carpenter; two stepdaughters, Amy (Brian) McCumsey and Molly (Richard) Walton; three grandchildren, Vera (Joshua) Carney, Megan (James Pelton) Carpenter, and Benjamin Carpenter; 4 step-grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Phyllis) Carpenter; sisters Betty (Junior) Simpson, Edna (Floyd) Paugh, Esther (Bill) Kettlewell, Thelma (Harry) Kettlewell, Martha (Lee) Schell, and Judith (Jim) Coleman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and out of consideration for family members with fragile health conditions, facial coverings and social distancing will be required during visitation and service. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, December 3, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Church of Christ, with Nelson Kidder officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
