Chloris E. Stemkowski, 81, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Bellaire, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the Park Health Center after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 27, 1925 at Moss Run in Bellaire. She was the youngest daughter of the late Harry and Hope Myers Glasgow.
She was retired from the former Imperial Glass Factory in Bellaire. She was a devoted wife and mother and known to many as "Grandma" in Bellaire.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Stemkowski on Jan. 28, 1997 and her baby brother, Gilbert "Gib" Glasgow in 1986.
Surviving are her daughter, Paula Lou Stemkowski and companion James Givens of St. Clairsville; a son, Randall Anthony Stemkowski and his girlfriend Robin Baker and her family of Bellaire and the mother of Randall?s children Susan Clifford of Bellaire; grandchildren, Heather Marie (Jeff) Hughes of Virginia; Shawn Edward Clifford, Shaylee Ann Stemkowski and fiancée Seth Frazier all of Bellaire; a great granddaughter, Haleigh Marie Hughes and was awaiting the arrival of baby Frazier; a brother, Wilbert "Wib" (Josie) Glasgow; a sister Gertrude "Gerty" Jackson all of Bellaire; brother-in-law, Joseph Stemkowski and sisters-in-law, Martha Glasgow of St. Clairsville and Patricia Padyjasek of Shadyside; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 Noon, with Pastor Roger Ewing officiating.
