Cheryl Jo Stefan, 81, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2026, peacefully in her sleep.

She was born December 12, 1944, in Neffs, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lois Marcelyne Beckett Jones and Robert W. Jones.

Cheryl owned and operated a home-based childcare business for many years, where she lovingly cared for generations of children and later volunteered at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. Above all, she cherished her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was also a member of the St. Clairsville Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy A. Stefan; a brother, Gary Jones; a sister, Judy Heavner; a brother-in-law, Ralph Roach; a sister-in-law, Anna Jones; and best friend, Linda Massey.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy (Chris) Whiteley and Kelli (Harold Jr.) Vigoffi; two granddaughters, Timi (Roger) Summers and Sydni (Allen) Green; three great granddaughters, Kennadee, Kinlee and Giovanna; a brother, Bobby (Robin) Jones; a sister, Debbie Roach; and several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Cheryl’s wishes, a cemetery chapel service will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio, on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., with Jacob Saarloos officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
