Charles R. "Charlie" "Sonny" Sproul, 80 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV.
He was born December 19, 1935 in Lloydsville, Ohio, a son of the late Samuel Sproul and Emma Ludwig Sproul.
Charlie was a retired employee of C&P Telephone Co., a member of Lloydsville United Methodist Church, member and Past President of the St. Clairsville Ruritan Club, he was a former Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, an honored member of the Telephone Pioneers, a member of Weyer Lodge # 541 F&AM in Centerville, three time Past Master of the former Belmont Lodge # 16 F&AM in St. Clairsville, and had over 30 years active involvement with St. Clairsville High School Football Program.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Conway Sproul; a sister, Peg Sproul.
Surviving are three sons, Charles "Chad" (Bridget) Sproul of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Jeffrey (Debbie) Sproul of Pickerington, Ohio, and Robert (Tonya) Sproul of Belmont, Ohio; a sister, Louise Paugh of Lloydsville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Alicia Sproul, Keegan Sproul, Breanna Sproul, Matthew (Alyssa) Ackerman, Michael (Lauren) Ackerman, and Spencer Whyte; two great grandchildren, Vivian and Mason Ackerman.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. where services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gene Miller officiating.
Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasnt Grove, Ohio.
Weyer Lodge will conduct Masonic Services at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Clairsville Ruritan Club or St. Clairsville High School Stadium Fund.
