Charles William "Mickey" Paxton died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Born on September 26, 1941, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, he is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bertha (Sliger) Paxton; sisters, Delores Patterson and Arlene Paxton; and one son, Jamie William.

Mickey is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Gloria Jean (Hughes); sisters, Patricia Elerick, Joanne Farkas, and Midred Burskey; and children, Charles "Tim" (Kelly) Paxton and Mindy (Denis Shawn) Gallagher. The light of Mickey's life could be seen in his children, but more so in his eight grandchildren, Lacey Paxton, Lindsey (Chad) Kulpa, Logan Paxton, Christina (Andrew) Marty, Leesa, Brianna, Kiley, and Chasity Gallagher, and nine great-grandchildren with his tenth arriving soon.

Mickey was an avid coal miner, even after his retirement, talking coal with all of his family and friends. He had a regular routine of driving the backroads, waving at the locals, and counting deer or turkey. His love of animals and children was undeniable.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the Bannock United Methodist Church or St Jude's Children's Hospital in his honor.

At his request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 4th, at Union Cemetery.
