Charles Edward Comas Sr., 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 19, 1927 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late Michael and Pauline Palko Comas.
Charles retired after 50 years as a barber. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Brookside. He enjoyed his annual lamb roasts, gardening, golfing and bowling and he followed the financial markets including stocks and bonds. Charles was a former U.S. Merchant Marine; and a member of AHEPA Chapter 68 Buckeye District 11 in Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Virginia Fleming Comas; his son, Michael E. Comas; two brothers, Ted and Jack Comas; and two sisters, Betty Comas and Marlene Jenkins.
Surviving are his four children, Charlene Ellen (James) Busch, Charles Edward (Teresa) Comas Jr., Lt. Col. Theodoros C. Koumoundouros M.D., PhD and Robin Jeanne (Bob) Jones; his loving daughter-in-law, Rebecca Fine Comas; his brother, Jerry (Donna) Comas; sister-in-law, Annie Comas; brother-in-law, John Jenkins; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating. Burial will follow in Belmont County Memorial Park, St. Clairsville.
