Charles Harold Berletch Sr., 89, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away December 29, 2020 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born December 11, 1931, in McMechen, West Virginia, a son of the late Matthew Berletch and Margaret Vallenbois Berletch.
Charles was a retired owner and operator of Matt's Meat Market in Wheeling, West Virginia; had worked for Whiteside's in St. Clairsville; owned and operated Berletch Rental Apartments and an Ice Business. Charles served in the United States Army Reserve, 197 th Tank Battalion. He was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette L. (Netta) Belleville Berletch; four brothers, Matt, Larry, Jack, and Ronald Berletch; and a sister, Phyllis Hill.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles "Topper" Berletch Jr. and John Dempster of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Brad (Joyce) Berletch of Moundsville, West Virginia, Lee (Butch) Gresak of St. Clairsville; five grandchildren, Amber Snowdon, Sabrina Wise, Thomas Dunlap, Tabitha Tubaugh and Joel Berletch; three sisters, Shirley (Sonny) Ankrom of Moundsville, WV, Judy (John) Davidson of Wheeling, WV, and Patty Muldrew of Glen Dale, WV; nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic private visitation and service will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to Thoburn United Methodist Church.
