Carol Mowrey, 81, of St. Clairsville, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 20, 1944, Carol was the daughter of the late Ed and Ann (Anuskewicz) Wasco. She was a proud graduate of Bellaire High School, class of 1962, and went on to earn her nursing degree from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Carol dedicated over 40 years of compassionate service as a registered nurse at Barnesville Hospital, where she made a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Terry Mowrey, and they shared a loving marriage for 35 years. Together, they worked hard and built a life centered on family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Mowrey) Fischer of Kent, Ohio; her son, Jeff (Stefanie) Mowrey of Galena, Ohio; and her five cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Kassidy, and Mallory Fischer; and Terry “Aiden” and Brenna Mowrey. She is also survived by her sister, Kay (Hank) Martin; her nephew, Eric (Rosilyn) Martin; and her niece, Kristen (Rich) Garrison.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Ann (Anuskewicz) Wasco; beloved husband, Terry Mowrey; and her son-in-law, Robert Fischer.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the love and support shown by her dear friend Ted Wierzbicki, her niece Linda Evans-Flaishans, and the many friends and neighbors who stood by Carol throughout her life.
Carol found joy in line dancing, staying active at the gym, walking, and traveling with friends. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and rarely missed an opportunity to attend and support their activities.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with Father Thomas Chillog, as the celebrant. The burial will follow in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
