Carol Mae Kappel, 74, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Monday, August 20, 2007, in Wheeling Hospital.

She was born in Pittsburgh, on September 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Francis and Caroline Nichol Kitchen.

Carol was a retired employee of Wilkinsburg-Penn Joint Water Authority. She was currently serving as a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kappel; and an infant brother, Ronald Kitchen.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Jill) Lucidi of St. Clairsville; a sister, Donna (William) Stineman of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren, Natalie (Jonathan) Hawthorne of St. Clairsville and Gina Lucidi and (Donald Starr) of St. Clairsville; and two great-grandchildren, Kyra and Alianna Hawthorne.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Visitation will also be held at William F. Gross Funeral Home, Penn Hills, Pa. on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.

Entombment will follow in Restland Memorial, Monroeville, Pa.
