Carol (Gazda) Berry, loving wife and mother of three, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 in the morning hours of Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at her home in Flushing.
Carol was born July 4th, 1951 in Martins Ferry; she was the daughter of the late Carl J. Gazda Sr. and Emilia Tryba Gazda of Fairpoint. She attended Fairpoint Elementary School and was a 1969 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. Carol held various jobs throughout her life, was the co-owner of J&R Lanes in New Athens, and a devoted homemaker. Her passions in life included bird watching, gardening, baking and making family meals special, collecting Polish Pottery, taking long rides in the car, and being a true servant of the Lord. She was known for her sense of humor, kind, gentle and selfless spirit, ability to make friends anywhere, and always putting her family first.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gregory, infant sister Marion, special brother-in-law Ernie, and Mother-in-law Evelyn. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard of 50 years, son Creston (Natasha) Berry of Flushing, daughter Kimberly (Bryan) Warga of Lancaster, and son David (Patricia) Christman of Massillon. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Christa, Gavin, Willow, Grayson, Rhyker, Katie, Colton, Camryn, Bryce, Graham, and Bentley who were the loves of her life, twin brother Carl (Cathy) Gazda, sister Teresa DeBertrand, sister-in-law Colleen Gazda, brother-in-law Gerry (Susan) Berry, sister-in-law Karen (Ed) Hudak, and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was a 32-year member of East Richland Friends Church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 8, 2021 at East Richland Friends Church from 1-4, followed by a memorial service for family and close friends with Rev. Dr. Jerry Wenger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Donate Life America ( https://give. classy.o rg /CarolBerry ) as Carol was a heart transplant recipient, or can be made directly to ERFC Ickes Life Center Fund.
