Slack, Carl William, 83 of Shadyside, Ohio died Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
Carl was born at Bellaire June 29, 1925 a son of the late Howard and Blanche (Tarbet) Slack of Shadyside.
Carl was retired from Allied and Olin Chemical Plant at Moundsville, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his son Eric Slack and a brother and sister.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years, Eileen (Taylor) Slack; daughter Katrina Dunaway, son W. Elliott (Bernie) Slack and daughter Jennifer (John) Gulash all of Shadyside. Carl also has 3 sisters, Blanche Wiles, Eva Freeman and Johannah Dixon; 12 grandchildren: Heather Dunaway, Rachel Boyd, Janell Brown, Wendy Duncan, Ryan Slack, Kyle Dunaway, Jill Monus, Dylan Slack, Marybeth Slack, Allison Slack, Mason Gulash and Karley Gulash; 8 great grandchildren, Kaeden Boyd, Abigale Jacob, Elizabeth Brown, Mya Duncan, Victor Slack, Gavin Slack and Brody Slack.
Carl was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church at Key, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater; a member of Weyer Lodge 541 F.& A.M. at Centerville, Past High Priest of Ohio Chapter 107 Royal Arch Masons, Past Master of Council 87 Royal Select Masters, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling where he was past Captain of the Arab Patrol, Past Chief of the Indian Patrol of Powhatan Point, Treasurer of Bel-Mon Shrine Club for 13 years and was a Past Patron of Weyer Chapter 515 Order of Eastern Star.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Key, Ohio.
Donations may be made to the Eric Slack Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by Eastern Star Services at 8:45 p.m.
