Obituary

Carl Thomas Pickens, 84, of Flushing, Ohio, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home.

He was born January 8, 1933 in Speidel, Ohio, son of the late Charles Carrol "Carl" Pickens and Goldie Huntsman Pickens.

Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a retired mechanic from Belmont Oliver Equipment and a member of Flushing Alliance Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Jean Heskett Pickens; a daughter, Linda Diehm; a stepson, Timothy Higgenbotham; two sisters, Virginia Eileen Lee Adams and Mary Johnson; and a brother, James Pickens.

Surviving are his three children, Steven Pickens of New Jersey, Carla (Michael) Gipson of Cambridge and Kimberly (Rich) Spano of Bannock; three step-children, Sandra (David) Jackson of Oklahoma, John Higgenbotham of Oklahoma and Connie Vorhies of Bannock; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gordon of Florida; a special nephew, Kevin (Kim) Frakowski of Maynard; along with many other nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Flushing Alliance Church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dean Lancaster officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Burial will follow in Chestnut Level Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Belmont County Veteran's Association.
