Obituary

Carl William Dale, age 80, of Flushing, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville. He was born July 5, 1925 in Flushing, Ohio, son of the late Richard E. Dale Sr. and Capitolia Geissinger Dale.

Carl was retired from CSX Railroad Corporation. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of the Flushing Alliance Church and a member of the American Legion Post # 366 in Flushing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Allen Dale; a grandson, Kenneth B. Dale; three brothers, Frank, Richard Jr. and Thomas Dale; and seven sisters, Perrie Leone, Evelyn Johns, Ada Hydo, Freda Buchanan, Mary Campanizzi, Laura Worley and Elsie Wood.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Jane Secrest Dale; a son, Carl William (Jeri) Dale Jr. of St. Clairsville; daughter-in-law, Connie Dale of Wheeling; four grandchildren, Matthew T. (Courtney) Dale, Danielle L. (Rick) Compté, Jason T. (Sherry) Dale and Scott W. Dale; and eight great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dean Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery in New Athens, Ohio.

The American Legion Post #366 will conduct services on Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home and will provide full military graveside honors on Saturday.
