Roach, Calvin J. Sr., 82, of Beallsville, Ohio, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Trinity East Medical Center, Steubenville.
He was born October 2, 1926 in Utica, Ohio, son of the late Virgil and Mary Applegate Roach.
Calvin was retired from North American Coal Company, Powhatan # 3 mine. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ozark, Ohio; and he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland and Lamar Roach; and two sisters, Gladys Saunders and Agnes Landis.
Surviving are his wife Pauline E. Belyk Roach; four children, Irene Popovich of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, Calvin Roach Jr. of Marietta, Ohio, Ralph (Debbie) Roach of St. Clairsville and Linda (Dave) Phillips of Senecaville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Karl Sikole, Missy Loy, Chad Roach, Brad Roach and B. J. Thomas; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Luther and Fred Roach.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 12 p.m. with Everett Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
Military Honors will be held on Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home by the Belmont County Council of American Legions.
