Bruney "Browny" Scypta, age 88, of St. Clairsville was called to be with his maker on Thursday, January 29, 2004. He was born in Adena, Ohio, October 31, 1915, son of the late Jesse and Mary Blenka Scypta.
He was married to the former Mary Vicker for 67 years. She survives.
Bruney was a loyal member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Clairsville and the Maynard PNA Lodge. He was a retired superintendent from Oglebay-Norton Mining Company. He was an avid bowler, bridge player, hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to spending time with his three children, six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
His surviving family members are his wife, Mary Vicker Scypta; two daughters, Elaine (Ed) Delesk of Columbus and Christine (Frank) Targoss of Wintersville; a son, Gary (Jill) Scypta of Plymouth, Michigan; two sisters, Helen Kubik of Stow, OH and Florence Dombroski of Cleveland, OH; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a special friend, Joe Kopral of Smithfield, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald; three sisters, Catherine, Mary and Leona; and a brother, Frank.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2004 with Father Thomas Graven the celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
