Zula Ernestine "Brownie" Gatti, 79 formerly of St. Clairsville, Ohio and a resident of Fruitland Park, Florida since 1983 died Saturday, April 16, 2005 in Leesburg, Florida.

She was born April 9, 1926 in Doddridge County, West Virginia. A daughter of the late Okey Underwood and Vondia Duty Underwood.

Brownie was a U.S. Postal Service employee in St. Clairsville for 20 years, a member of the Eagle?s Nest Baptist Church in Fruitland Park, a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Public Employees Retirees, Inc. of Ohio, AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184, President then Corresponding Secretary for Belmont County Day Reunion for the past 10 years, and a member of AARP.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman M. Gatti in 1993; brothers, William, Eugene, Paul and Willard Underwood; sisters, Mary Underwood, Helen Gibson, and Esther Dillon.

Surviving are her daughter, Norma Jean "Jeanie" Miller and son-in-law, Howard Clayton of Fruitland Park, Florida; a grandson, Vincent M. Ricer and his wife Trish Gray Ricer of Lady Lake, Florida.; sisters, Olive Saltsman of Fruitland Park, Ilene Hughes and Phyllis Bosworth of East Liverpool, Ohio and Betty Beaver of Newell, West Virginia; brothers, Okey Underwood, Jr. of Salem, West Virginia, Joe Underwood of Friendly, West Virginia, and Shelva Underwood of Burghills, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews , and other relatives throughout West Virginia and Ohio.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Brother Dan Ponzani officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
