NEFF, Boyd W., 92, of Shadyside, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at home.
He was born in Pea Vine, Ohio on May 14, 1917, son of the late Henry Crawford Neff and Elizabeth Agnes Bilyeu Neff.
Boyd was a retired employee from North American Coal Company # 4 Mine; he was a farmer, an Iron Worker; he was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II and he was a member of American Legion Post 521 in Shadyside.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Lewis Neff; 5 brothers, Lloyd, Ferd, Archie, Herman and Walter Neff; and 4 sisters, Elsie Homan, Mae Thompson, Cora Neff and Orpha Schilling.
He is survived by his stepsons, Starling E. Boston Jr. of Jacobsburg and Eddie P. Boston of Beallsville; 5 step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Jim Bittengle and Vince Cruciotti.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery.
Full Military Honor Services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
