Fred William "Bill" Saunders Jr., 73, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died January 31, 2019 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1945 in Bannock, a son of the late Fred W. Saunders Sr. and Helen A. Groves Saunders Bittinger.

Bill was retired from Vern Allen Tire and a member of the Operating Engineers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a stock car enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill loved kids, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Debby Patterson Saunders; his son, Eric (Kari) Saunders; two grandchildren, Brody and Ava Saunders; two brothers, Henry and Frank; three sisters, Carolyn, Sharon and Frances; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from 3 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m.  Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio.
