William A. "Bill" Higgins, 81 of Glencoe, Ohio died Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born at
St. Joe, Ohio November 24, 1921 a son of the late Harry Higgins and Pearl Allen Higgins Spoon.
Bill was a retired employee of the B & O Chessie System Railroad, a member of Glencoe American Legion Post #632 and was an Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Viola Neitzelt Higgins, a son Maurice Higgins, brothers Wilford, Ken and Harry Higgins, sisters Inez McGarry and Georgia Johnston.
Surviving are his sons, Roger William Higgins of Glencoe, Keith Allen Higgins of Indianapolis and Mark Evan Higgins of Glencoe, brothers Roy Higgins of Salt Lake City, Paul Higgins of Chasta, MN and Charles "Jake" Spoon of Springfield, OH, sisters Helen Reed of Belmont and Jean Good of New Concord, OH, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with John Oliver officiating. Burial follows in Glencoe Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
