Betty Louise Thornton, 97, of Glencoe, Ohio, died at her home on January 14, 2023.

She was born October 3, 1925, in Stewartsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ray Helms and Rhea Lucetta Masters Helms.

Betty was a retired supervisor with Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She was a Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed attending the Glencoe Senior Center and was a Methodist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Thornton Sr.; her companion, Earl Foster; a son, Russell Thornton Jr. and an infant brother, David Helms.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Olexo and Colleen (Mike) Seckman both of Glencoe; a daughter in law, Karon Thornton; a brother, Ray Helms of Wadsworth, OH; a sister, Ludora Brown of Rittman, OH; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kurt Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Warnock Cemetery.
