Betty Lou Thomas, 87, of Flushing, Ohio died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV.
She was born July 8, 1929 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Bertrand W. Hughes and Nettie Mae Jones Hughes.
Betty was a retired clerk at the former Loos Pharmacy in St. Clairsville. She was a member of Bannock United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir, the United Methodist Women and served as Sunday School Superintendent.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Thomas; four brothers, David Allen, George, Wayne and Richard Hughes; and two sisters, Virginia Taylor and C. Vivian Cuiksa.
Surviving are a son, Rodney (Marlena) Thomas of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Crystal (Denver) Hoops and Connie (Steven) Lohr both of Flushing; two sisters, Barbara Daley of St. Clairsville and Gloria Jean Paxton of Bannock; nine grandchildren, Ronald (Holly) Hoops, Krista McAffee (fiancé Tom Jimeson), Stacey (Rob) Roth; Kayla Thomas, Ashley (Matt) Williams, Cory Myers (fiancé Maelani Dennis), Taylor Myers, Bailey Lohr and Sydney Lohr; ten great grandchildren, Nick Hoops (fiancé Mikala Huff), Reagan McAfee, Austin McAfee, Stephen Hoops, Silas Hoops, Sarah Hoops, Connor Roth, Olivia Williams, Ethan and Abel Williams; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 6–8 p.m. and Friday from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Al Hoder officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
