Bettie Allie Kernik, 97 of Powhatan Point, Ohio Passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Shadyside Care Center. She was born January 7, 1929 in Long Bottom, Ohio, a daughter of the late Pearley R. and Clytie H. Lowden Thompson.
Bettie was a homemaker and a member of Amity United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star in Wheeling, West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Kernik in 1990; a grandson, Anthony “Tony” Kernik; siblings, Harry Thompson, Guy Thompson, Amy Feighner, Ted Thompson, Jack Thompson and two infant brothers, Stephen Thompson and Roger Thompson.
Surviving are her two sons, Ted Kernik and Tod Kernik, both of Powhatan Point; a grandson, Alexander Kernik; a sister, Sharon (Daniel) Liskai of Woodville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Peryl Thompson of Melbourne, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
As per her request, no visitation will be held. Private graveside funeral services will be held at the Chapel in Powhatan Cemetery on Friday at 1 pm with Rev. Michelle Lucarelli officiating.
