Obituary

Barbara Diane Kilgore, beloved daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her husband and family at her side on August 25, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born the third child of Garnett Merinar Kilgore and William A. Kilgore in Wheeling, WV in 1951.

Barbara graduated from Triadelphia High School in 1968 and worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for over 20 years. She met Bruce Sabatino in 1975 and they were married in 1976 in Martins Ferry, OH.

She had many hobbies and loved to garden, cook, bake, and craft.  But her great passion was quilting.  She belonged to the Quilts of Valor Quilting Club and made many quilts that were presented to military veterans.  She made over 30 quilts and won awards for some of them.  She was also a member of the Sand Hill Farm Women's Club for many years.

She was very interested in genealogy and spent a year tracing the histories of the Kilgore and Merinar families back to their roots in Ireland.

Barbara is predeceased by her father, William A. Kilgore, her brother, William Michael Kilgore and stepfather, Duane McGlumphy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce (Sabby) Sabatino, St. Clairsville, OH; her mother, Garnett Merinar Kilgore McGlumphy, St. Clairsville, OH; siblings Sharon Mores (John), Boulder, CO; James Kilgore (Phyllis), Wheeling, WV;  Grace Ann Kilgore (Celesta), Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law Marlene Sabatino, Orlando, FL; brother-in-law Allan Sabatino (Judy), Bonita Springs, FL, sister-in-law, Tamara Jo Kilgore of Monroe, NC; dear friends Sue Olinski (Jim), St. Clairsville, OH and Kathy and Kenny Flading, St. Clairsville, OH; beloved nephew, Scott Mores, Pittsburgh, PA,  and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

During her lifetime she enjoyed the company of many special dogs including Lucille, Emmy Lou, Micha, and Simon.

Visitation will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, OH on Wednesday from 1 until time of funeral services at 4 pm with Pastor Wayne Clark Officiating.  Final arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter in St. Clairsville or to Valley Hospice in Barbara's name.
