Obituary

Baden Robert Powell, age 75, of St. Clairsville died Monday, December 20, 2004 at Crestview Health Care Center in St. Clairsville.

He was born December 2, 1929 at Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late Baden and Florence Tanley Powell.

Baden was a retired owner and operator of Powell Construction Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; a charter member of the St. Clairsville Jaycees and a member of the Saints Club. He was instrumental in the building of the St. Clairsville Field House and the St. C. Jaycee Shelter.

Baden was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lee Rice Powell; son, Robert Powell and his wife Rose of St. Clairsville; three daughters, Cheri Jones and her husband Bill of Westerville, Ohio, Janice Cochran and her husband Barry of Creston, Ohio and Linda Timko and her husband John of St. Clairsville; eight grandchildren, Emily and Baden Powell, Bradley and Bethany Jones, Michelle and Shaye Cochran, Evan and Eric Timko; a cousin, Richard Powell and his wife Joan of Steubenville, Ohio and three cousins in England.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Lee Eilert and Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
