Arthur Thompson, 86, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died March 16, 2018 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Maynard, Ohio on September 16, 1931, son of the late Arthur Thompson and Helen Neskoski Thompson.
Art was a retired service manager from Bob's Cheverolet and Sisson Motors. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of the former Maynard American Legion Post #666 and current St. Clairsville Post #159; a Past Master of Belmont Lodge # 16 F. & A.M. in St. Clairsville; the current treasurer of Weyer Lodge #541 in Centerville and a member of the Fairpoint Polish Club. He was an avid pilot. Art was a family man who loved working outdoors – cutting wood, cutting grass and bird watching. He loved animals and supported them through his volunteer efforts and adoption.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by an infant son and his son-in-law, Robert W. Derr.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Louise Sloan Thompson; two daughters, Pamela Kay (Tom) Kralovic and Melinda Thompson Derr both of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Brian (Pam) Kralovic, Brad (Cara) Kralovic and Brent Kralovic; 6 great grandchildren, Brandon, Brayden, Isabella, Jackson, Mackenzie and Colten.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of services beginning at 5 p.m.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions and Weyer Lodge #541 will conduct funeral services all beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local Animal Shelter of the donor's choice or the Barton Volunteer Fire Dept.
