Arlie Jean Thoenen, 94, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bellaire, Ohio, on January 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Edgar W. and Arlie L. Upperman Hall.

Jean was a loving wife of 75 years to Herbert Eugene Thoenen, a wonderful mother to her four children, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very active member of Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, a member of the adult Bible school class and serving on the kitchen crew.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Belmont Manor for their exceptional care.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Eugene Thoenen; and three sisters, Audrey Hall, Nancy Hall and Patty Tuttle.

Jean is survived by four children, Debbie (David) DelGuzzo, LuAnn (Ed) Exner, Cathy Jo (Gordon) Martin and Kirk A. (Peggy) Thoenen; two sisters, Martha Kay (Don) Balsei and Peggy Welsh; a brother, Ed (Mary Lou) Hall; twelve grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Visitation will again be held on Monday, October 26th from 11 a.m. until service at 12 p.m. at the Thoburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Zach Thoenen officiating. Private burial will be in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery.
