Anna Jean Worthington, 89, died Sunday, February 21, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 10, 1932 in Martins Ferry, the daughter of Herb and Ellen Walker Woods.
Anna Jean spent her childhood in Pleasant Grove and attended Mt. Pleasant High School. One of her first jobs was attaching handles to coffee cups at Scio Pottery. Years later she enjoyed driving school buses for St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools and Manatee County Schools in Bradenton, Florida.
Anna Jean enjoyed watching old Westerns, Reading, FaceTime with her great grandchildren and friendships with neighbors at Kontogiannis Apartments in St. Clairsville. At one point in her life, she participated in "Powder-Puff Demolition Derbies" at Alderman and Debo stock car tracks.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Bob and Nelson Woods. She is survived by her sister, Eileen Johnston, Daytona, Florida. Anna Jean is survived by a son Terry Worthington, Lakeland, Florida and a daughter, Kim Brooks of New Port Richey, Florida. She has three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Cremation has been arranged through Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. A Celebration of Life with immediate family will be held post-pandemic.
