Anna May Bonnett, 87, of Belmont, Ohio, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her home.
She was born September 2, 1934, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Kenneth W. Potts and Georgia E. Wise Potts.
Anna May was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and devoted lifelong friend to many. She was an avid OSU Buckeye fan and an extreme fanatic of the OSU Marching Band. Anna May was a 1952 graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville and a 1955 graduate of the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. Her career as a Registered Nurse began in both the clinical and hospital settings and later, she served as a nursing professor at Belmont Technical College.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #50 New Martinsville Chapter and an active member of the Belmont United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played the handbells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale T. Bonnett Sr.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Diaz; a brother, Arthur "Mounty" Potts and a sister, Kay Jeffers.
Anna May is survived by two children, Martha Lee Hester of Columbus and Dale Thomas (Chris) Bonnett II of Belmont; four granddaughters, Jessica May Diaz of Belmont, Georgia "Leeanne" (James) Mako and Lindsay Dayle Hester both of Columbus, and Sarah Marie Bonnett of Belmont; a great grandchild expected February of 2022; two sisters, Barbara Meyn of Florida and Nancy Starkey of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Facial coverings are recommended. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville and again on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Thompson and Rev. Charles Tobias officiating. Burial will follow in Belmont Cemetery.
