Andrew "Andy" J. Yanik Sr., 88, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Monday, December 3, 2018 at his home.

He was born October 10, 1930 in St. Clairsville, Ohio a son of the late Frank and Madalene Wojtowicz Yanik.

Andy was a retired machinist from Valley Machine, a farmer, a former teacher from the Belmont-Harrison Joint Vocational School and U.S. Airforce veteran and pilot and owned his own airplane. He loved his wife's cooking and her sweets. Andy also enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his lifelong friend and brother-in-law, John Shipta. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Elvera Rose Cerra Yanik; his daughter, Regina Hajdin; three brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are his son, Andrew "A.J." Yanik of St. Clairsville; a son-in-law, Michael Hajdin of Columbus; three grandchildren, Christine Hajdin Taut, Michael Hajdin and Nicole Yanik; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 3:45 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog the celebrant, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
