Andrew J. Gamcik, 92, of Midway, OH died Friday, January 14, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, WV. He was born November 12, 1929, in Midway, a son of the late John and Mary Ligda Gamcik.
Andy had many jobs in his life, a trackman for the railroad, Hanna Coal Company, a steel mill in Cleveland and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation Yorkville Plant as a foreman of Quality Control and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, and currently a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, the Fairpoint Polish Club and Korean War Vets.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Gamcik.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Pavlic Gamcik of Midway; his children, Andrea (Jim) Witzgall of Wheeling, Suzanne Hynes of St. Clairsville, Tom (Lynn) Gamcik of Kennedy Township, PA., Margie (Jim) Patrizi of St. Clairsville; a sister, Helen Kapusta of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 10 am until 12:45 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with full military honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 12 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 1 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
The family has asked that masks be worn, and social distance be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Clairsville Food Pantry.
