Althar, Andrew K., 92, of Bellaire, formerly of Tiffin, died Jan. 10, 2009 in Wheeling. He was born April 4, 1916 in Bellaire, son of the late George and Monta Tomlie Althar.

Andrew was a retired banker and realtor. He was a 1934 Bellaire High School Alumnus and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Weaver Althar in 2000; a brother, Richard Althar in 1980; a sister, Gene Phillips in 2001; 2 great nephews, Richard Althar in 1999 and Matthew Phillips.

Surviving are nephew, Richard and Monica Althar with whom he resided in Bellaire; nephew, Brad (Vickie) Phillips and niece, Linda (Rusty) Ferdon all of Cincinnati; great niece, Lorrie (Dusty) Holt of Bellaire; great nephews, Ryan (Jeanie) Ferdon, Robb (Kandice) Ferdon and Jeremy Phillips all of Cincinnati; great great nieces, Calleigh Holt, Aubree, Rylee and Jamie Ferdon; great great nephews, Brody Holt and Kolvin Ferdon.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home in Tiffin, Ohio where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary Proeiti officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Local arrangements handled by Toothman Funeral Home.
