Amos E. Karkowski, 74, of Jacobsburg Ohio, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1940 in Dillonvale, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Karkoska and Florence G. Kartman.
Amos was a U.S. Army veteran serving 10 years of active duty with two tours in the Vietnam War and was a retired electrician and former coal miner. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 in Neffs; he was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a loyal Ohio State Buckeye fan.
In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his son, Michael Karkowski; his stepfather, Louis Kartman; and a sister, Carol Sibiga.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Kotson Karkowski; his children, Joe (Mindy) Karkowski of St. Clairsville, Melissa (Dan) Duncan of Jacobsburg and Kandy (George) Brown of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Michael (Lesleigh) Karkowski of Charleston, SC, Dustin (Renea) Karkowski of Shadyside, Ciera Duncan of Jacobsburg, Eli and Cody Karkowski of Shadyside, Robby Carroll of Knoxville, TN, Joey (Marcie) Carroll of Knoxville, TN and Jessica and Nicole Brown of Knoxville, TN; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Kartman Sr. of Key, numerous brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of Service at 5 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, with Rev. Kevin A. Bowers officiating.
The Belmont County Veterans Association will conduct Full Military Honors at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
