Obituary

Caldwell, Amos Hobart, 85 of Shadyside, Ohio died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Shadyside Care Center.

He was born April 1, 1928 at Clover Ridge, Ohio, a son of the late Hobart Caldwell and Lottie Kocher Caldwell.

Amos was a retired employee of Ormet Corporation, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of First Christian Church in Shadyside, Shadyside Lodge # 724 F&AM, Shadyside American Legion Post # 521, and Shadyside Chapter # 581 Order of the Eastern Star.

He loved playing baseball and played for many years in Neffs, Shadyside, and Barnesville as well as playing for the U.S. Army baseball team while serving in Germany.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean Bonar Caldwell; a brother, Lester Caldwell.

Surviving are his brother, Dale (Carolyn) Caldwell of Beallsville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Eric White officiating.

Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.

Shadyside Lodge # 724 F&AM will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Belmont County Council of American Legions will provide full military honors at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
