Allen C. Palmer, 97, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed peacefully with his daughter at his side on January 17, 2019 at Park Health Center.

He was born on April 26, 1921 in Worthington, Ohio, a son of the late William Ray Palmer Sr. and Margaret Rickey Cless Palmer.

Al was a retired Senior Life Underwriter from Nationwide Insurance and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville and a member of University Lodge # 631 F. & A.M. in Columbus.  He was an avid Ohio State University football fan and a graduate of Barnesville High School and Muskingum University.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilda Lois Muller Palmer on April 5, 1982 and his second wife, Ruth Palmer on April 14, 2016 and a brother, William Ray Palmer Jr. In August 2018.

Al is survived by his two children, Barbara Palmer-Tengs of Springfield, Virginia and David (Leanna) Palmer of Castle Pines, Colorado; grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Tengs of Arlington, Virginia and Kelly (Paul) Rose of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; four great grandchildren, Samantha Grayson Tengs, Kylie, Preston and Peyton Rose; and his sister, Jean Davies, of Barnesville.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of Masonic Services and Full Military Honors beginning at 5 p.m.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.

Visitation will again be held on Monday at Thoburn United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
