Alice Louise Mercer, 72, of Holloway, Ohio died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home in St. Clairsville. She was born March 2, 1945 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late John William Hollingsworth and Helen Louise Jordan Hollingsworth. Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed Bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Flushing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Carmel Mercer, Sr.; a brother, William Keith Hollingsworth. Surviving are her three children, P.J. Mercer of Cadiz, Denise (Dave) Gray of Bethesda, and Brian (Mary) Mercer of Calais; six grandchildren, Paul Mercer III, Donald William Mercer, Nicholas Gray, Jacob Gray, Allison Gray, and Dakota Mercer; a great grandson, Brody Mercer; a sister, Doris Attinger; a sister-in-law, Connie Hollingsworth; nieces and nephews; and dear friend and neighbor, David Davis. Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dean Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Christian Missionary Alliance Church.
