May, Albert E., 92, of Powhatan Point, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home.
Albert was born in Jacobsburg, Ohio, April 6, 1916, son of the late William French May and Lucy Rebecca Bennett May.
Albert was a retired employee of North American Coal Company #1 mine, a member of the UMWA, and a farmer. He was a member of Powhatan United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William "Bob" May; and an infant son; and two sisters, Edna Palmer and Bertha Palmer.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Betty Palmer May; a daughter, Beverly Necessary of Powhatan Point; a daughter-in-law, Anna Mae May of Powhatan Point; 6 grandchildren, Carla Brandon, Bobby May, Duane Necessary, Kathleen Necessary, Emory Necessary and Kristin Necessary; 12 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, William E. May of Laurel Hill, Florida, Herbert F. May of Shadyside, Joseph E. May of Clarington and Arthur R. "Huck" May of Powhatan Point; 4 sisters, Myrtle Palmer and Helen Powell both of Jacobsburg, Ethel Bier of Clarington and Betty Lou Sheets of Wheeling, WVa.
Visitation will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. with Lorna Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
