He was born May 27, 1946 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Charles “Monk” Allen and Eileen Marie Bellville Allen. He was a retired welder, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, life member of the DAV in Bellaire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Alene Allen. Surviving are a son, Johnny Ronald Allen of Tennessee; a daughter, Stacey Jane (Michael) Harsher of Harrisville, Ohio; companion, Sandy Wisor of Pipe Creek; brother, Donald Allen of Pipe Creek; grandchildren, Jennifer and Allison. Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 Noon with Rev. Theresa Bobot officiating. Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of VFWs at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Andrew K. Althar Althar, Andrew K., 92, of Bellaire, formerly of Tiffin, died Jan. 10, 2009 in Wheeling. He was born April 4, 1916 in Bellaire, son of the late George and Monta Tomlie Althar. Andrew was a retired banker and realtor. He was a 1934 Bellaire High School Alumnus and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Weaver Althar in 2000; a brother, Richard Althar in 1980; a sister, Gene Phillips in 2001; 2 great nephews, Richard Althar in 1999 and Matthew Phillips. Surviving are nephew, Richard and Monica Althar with whom he resided in Bellaire; nephew, Brad (Vickie) Phillips and niece, Linda (Rusty) Ferdon all of Cincinnati; great niece, Lorrie (Dusty) Holt of Bellaire; great nephews, Ryan (Jeanie) Ferdon, Robb (Kandice) Ferdon and Jeremy Phillips all of Cincinnati; great great nieces, Calleigh Holt, Aubree, Rylee and Jamie Ferdon; great great nephews, Brody Holt and Kolvin Ferdon. Marlene K. Alwine Alwine, Marlene Kay Wilson, 60 of Cambridge, Ohio died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at her home. She was born at Wheeling, WV on September 17, 1948 a daughter of Eula Mae Durbin Wilson and the late Hobert J. Wilson. Marlene was a Registered Nurse having worked for Southeastern Ohio Medical Center at Cambridge, the Health Department of Cambridge, Bethesda Hospital at Zanesville, Medical Associates at Cambridge and Area Agency on Aging Region 9 at Cambridge. She was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church at Cambridge. In addition to her father Hobert, she was preceded in death by daughters Jennifer Kay and Wendy Rebecca Alwine. She is survived by her husband, Allen Willis Alwine; 2 daughters, Stacy Sells of Byesville and Brooke (Todd) Mathers of Cambridge; her mother Eula Wilson of Belmont, Ohio; a brother Hobert J. Wilson of Bethesda, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Chelsey Sells, Levi Sells, Keegan Mathers and Marley Mathers. He was born at Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 24, 1942 a son of the late John Applegarth and Marian Jones Applegarth Blattler. He was a retired self employed Television repairman. James T. “Jamie” Ault Sr. Ault, James Thomas “Jamie” Sr., 39, of Jacobsburg, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at home. He was born in Bellaire on Feb. 5, 1970, son of James E. Ault Jr. and Sue Stillion Ault. James was a self employed mason a member of Centerville Christian Church and attended Church of the Nazarene in Bethesda. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas A. and Vera V. Stillion and James E. Ault Sr. and Ethel L. Ault. Surviving are his parents, James and Sue Stillion; his wife, Deniece Marie Husvar Ault; 4 daughters, Suzanne, Bethany, Megan and Emily; a son, James Thomas Ault Jr.; 3 stepchildren, Madison, Cameron and Carson; and a sister, Lois (Steve) Chancey. Douglas A. Bailey Bailey, Douglas A., 48, of Shadyside, passed away June 1, 2009. He was born August 15, 1960 in Bellaire. Doug was a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church at Key. He served in the U.S. Army from 1978 until 1984 and was a helicopter crew chief; he was a member of the American Legion Post 632 at Glencoe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fay Shackleford Christman; his paternal grandparents, Frances and Francena Bailey; maternal grandmother, Ethel Nelson; and his father-in-law, Fred Eylar. Andrew “Gump” Barnes Barnes, Andrew J. “Gump”, 87, of Willow Grove Rd., Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, April 13, 2009 at his home. He was born at Neffs, Ohio on November 9, 1921 a son of the late George and Celia Kapitan Barnes. Gump was a retired coal miner from the former Y & O Coal Allison Mine. He was a Catholic by faith, a member of the Bethesda VFW, United Mine Workers and was an Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Zajac Barnes; a son, Andrew Joseph Barnes; brothers, George, John, Paul, Pete, Joseph “Butch”, Steve “Beaver” and Martin “Chuck” Barnes; sisters, Mary Olexa and Betty Hoyo. Susan J. Bell Susan Jane Bell, 70 of Glencoe, Ohio died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. She was born November 10, 1938 in Bellaire, a daughter of the late William Kelly and Martha Mae Schramm Kelly. She was a member of the Glencoe American Legion Auxiliary Post # 632. Surviving are her husband, Robert Bell; five children, Robbie (Donna) Bell of Brightwood, Ohio, Billy Bell of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Randy (Lisa) Bell of Glencoe, Peggy Bell of Glencoe, and Brian (Penny) Bell of Glencoe; brothers, Jerry Kelly of Massillon, Ohio and Richard Kelly of Bellaire; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Ann Belyk Belyk, Ann, 97, of St. Clairsville, died May 26, 2009 at Heartland Lansing Nursing Home. She was born November 4, 1911 in Piney Fork, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Eva Dillon Belyk. Ann retired as a waitress after 62 years from W. T. Grant in Cleveland. She attended the First Christian Church in St. Clairsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Charles Belyk; and three sisters, Helen Jenkins, Mary Ebbert and an infant. Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Hall of St. Clairsville and Pauline Roach of Beallsville; and several nieces and nephews. Marian Bennett Bennett, Marion Lee Hall of Peters Run Rd., Wheeling died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Park Health Center, St. Clairsville. She was born at Wheeling on October 4, 1926 a daughter of the late Wilbur and Helen Morrison Hall. She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. Marian loved all animals and spent a lot of time listening to gospel and bluegrass music. She also loved to be outdoors and working in her yard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bennett and an infant twin brother. She is survived by a sister, Ann Wolfe of St. Clairsville; a nephew, Douglas Wolfe of St. Clairsville; a niece, Sharon Marconi of St. Clairsville; 3 great nieces, Caitlin Wolfe, Cassidy Wolfe and Mallory Marconi; 1 great nephew, Caid Wolfe and her pets “Ginger” and “Jennie”. Robert A. Bobick Robert A. Bobick, 63, passed away on May 26, 2009. He was a long time resident of Young’s Care Home in Moundsville, WV and lived in Georgia briefly before his death. He was born in Wheeling, WV to the late William K and Julia McGary Bobick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Billy Bobick. He will be dearly missed by his brother Paul and sister-in-law Roxanne Bobick of Wheeling, WV; sister Barbara and brother-in-law Jack Keys of Duluth, GA; stepmother, Eileen Bobick of Jacobsburg, OH; three nieces, Carrie Blinzinger, Jaclyn Keys, and Christine Keys; nephew Jesse Bobick; and great nephew John Paul Blinzinger. He attended Union Local High School. He loved his family dearly, had a passionate concern for others regardless of their circumstances, and had a deep love for and unwavering faith in God. Betty Mae Boyer Betty Mae Schrecengost Boyer, 81 of St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly of Rural Valley, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She was born February 3, 1928 in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Harold and Lucile Hawkins Schrecengost. Betty was a devoted minister’s wife, wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grammy. She was most recently a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Velma Schrecengost, and a step brother, Sonny Schrecengost. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rev. William A. Boyer; son, Wil and wife Tara of Belmont, Ohio; daughter, Mary and her husband Dean Allman of Key Largo, Florida; son, Tim and his wife JoEllen of Eldersburg, Maryland; daughter Barb of Canton, Ohio. Betty was very proud of her six grandsons, Chad and Todd Boyer, Josh (Rae) and Brett Allman, Jeremy and Zach Boyer. Also surviving are her brothers, Bud Schrecengost of Dayton, Pennsylvania and Jack Schrecengost of Wauconda, Illinois. Catherine Bradford Bradford, Catherine R., 88, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, November 20, 2009 in Wheeling Hospital. She was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1921, daughter of the late Elmer P. Rice and Verna Feist Rice. Catherine was a retired registered nurse from St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the American Red Cross. She was a member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Bradford; a grandson Douglas Bradford; and a brother, Curtis Rice. She is survived by her son, Thomas P. (Terri) Bradford, Jr. of St. Clairsville, Ohio; grandsons, Thomas Patrick Bradford and Nicholas J. Bradford; and two brothers, Paul Rice of California and Carl Rice of Arizona. Evelyn Mae Armann Brooks Brooks, Evelyn Mae Armann, 92, of Beallsville, Oh., died June 15, 2009, in Barnesville Hospital. She was born November 27, 1916, daughter of the late Everett Armann and Vida Wheeler Armann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Brooks; three brothers, Oscar Wheeler, Roy Armann, and John Armann; four sisters; Lodema Brooks, Margaret Brooks, Lois Loomis, and Jean Galavich; and two grandchildren, Guy David Simmons and Melissa Leigh Riley. Amie loved hunting, fishing, and photography. Arthur was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force; veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War and a member of the Asco Community Church. Marsha was born in Bellaire, Ohio on December 7, 1950. She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Barnesville. Marsha was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Barr Mazzie; her stepfather, Joseph Mazzie; and her father, Edward Gray. Lillian Capalingo Lillian June Capalingo, 80 of Canton, Ohio died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Aultman Hospital. She was born April 27, 1928 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Clyde Johnson and Julia Hudock Johnson. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Capalingo; a son, Ronald Capalingo; brothers, Joseph Francis Johnson, John David “Lincoln” Johnson, Philip Lee Johnson; sisters, Priscilla Dalto and Dorothy Kalo. She was born June 12, 1929 in St. Clairsville, a daughter of the late Robert R. Clark and Lena Saffell Clark. Dorothy was a retired clerk from Mull’s Grocery in Brilliant, and a member of the Brilliant Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Coen in 2006; a brother, William Harvey Clark; a sister, LaDonna Stewart. Michael Comas Comas, Michael Eugene, 47 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, July 17, 2009 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus. He was born at Wheeling, WV on September 21, 1961 a son of Charles Edward Comas, Sr. and Helen Virginia Fleming Comas. Mike was a barber at the Comas Family Barber Shop in Wheeling and a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, St. Clairsville. Mike was deeply loved and touched by everyone who met him. He greatly appreciated all of his family, friends, customers and community who reached out to help his family in his time of need. Besides his family, his Barber Shop and the customers that he came to know and love was his greatest joy in life. Gerry E. Craft CRAFT, Gerry E., 58, of St. Clairsville, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 29, 1951, son of Emmett Craft and Eva Holliday Craft. After playing professional baseball for three seasons and managing for one season, Gerry scouted for 30 years, the first seven years for the Milwaukee Brewers and the last 23 years with the Houston Astros. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kimberly Jo Craft. Margaret Csabai Csabai, Margaret, 63 years of age passed away July 30, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital with friends at her bedside. Margaret was born July 10, 1946 at Martins Ferry, Ohio to Stephen and Rose Balint Csabai. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one sister, Rosemary Csabai of Wheeling, WV and many friends at Airport Road and Pineview Drive (especially Erin, Shelly and Robin) at Rescare, St. Clairsville. Margaret lived at the Airport Home in 2006 and then moved to the Pineview Home in January 2009. She was employed by Belco Works for many years and most recently attended a day program at Tomorrow’s Corner. Margaret was an active participant in Special Olympics and received many medals for bowling. She was dearly loved by all that knew her. She was an avid purse collector and loved to be pampered by having her hair styled and nails painted. She was a sweet, gentle woman that would brighten your day with her warm smile. She was always giggling and hugging those around her. She was soft spoken and very sincere. Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; a member of the Catholic Women’s Club; a member of the Maynard PNA # 455; a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Dept. Auxiliary; a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Garden Club; a member of the Dillonvale Senior Citizens. Ralph Fankhauser Fankhauser, Ralph E. “Hound Dog”, 78 of Dilles Bottom, Ohio expired September 24, 2009. He was born May 4, 1931 in Powhatan Point, Ohio a son of the late Clifford and Lulu Bauer Fankhauser. He was a member of St. John’s Church of Christ on German Ridge, Powhatan Point. Ralph accepted the Lord as his savior in his life on October 19, 2003 while visiting his son Jim in North Carolina. Ralph was a retired outside electrical worker with IBEW Local #141 in Wheeling. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years as a corporal medic during the Korean War and was a member of Powhatan Point American Legion Post #228 serving as Commander for 7 years. He also was a life member of Powhatan V.F.W. Post #5565. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gene Ramsay. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine M. (Neff) Fankhauser; 3 sons and 1 daughter, Jim (Rita) Fankhauser of Kernersville, NC; Bob (Lynne) Ramsay of Miami, FL; Susan (Randy) Freeman of Ft. Wayne was a lifetime farmer and was retired from North American Coal Company after 42 years of service and was a member of U.M.W.A. #2262. He was a member of Grandview Christian Church. Wayne was an avid hunter, card player and joker who really loved life and loved to have fun. He will be very sadly missed by all his family, friends and neighbors and will be well remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Charles R. “Bob” Fuller Charles R. “Bob” Fuller, 63 of Stewartsville, Ohio lost his battle with cancer on April 23, 2009. He was born in Stewartsville on January 28, 1946, a son of the late Albert R. Fuller, Sr. and Florence Lynn Fuller. Bob was a graduate of Bellaire High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965-1967, worked at Belmont County Engineer Dept., and was a member of Clarksburg Methodist Church. He was an avid Ohio State fan and spent a lot of his spare time restoring his 1968 Camaro and tinkering on old Wheel Horse Tractors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Greenlee. Bob was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Linda Pollock Fuller; daughter, Kristi (Chad) Clark of Key; son, Robbie (Darla) Fuller of Stewartsville; sisters, Mary Lou (Fred) Serles of Powell, Ohio, Pat (Jim) Bulger of Jacobsburg, and Terri Fuller of Columbus; a brother, Albert (Gina) Fuller of Bellaire; 2 grandchildren, Cale and Jacob Clark; brother-in-law, Ed (Jan) Pollock of Dublin, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. Thomas B. Fulton Fulton, Thomas B., 67, of St. Clairsville, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at his home. He was born July 28, 1941 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Albert Parker Fulton and L. Margaret Bigley Fulton. Tom was a retired High School Teacher from St. Clairsville High School, Shadyside and Martins Ferry Schools. He was a retired employee and former volunteer of Cumberland Trail Fire Department; he was a former Deputy and Chief Deputy from the Belmont County Sheriffs Dept.; he was a board member for the Belmont County 911 Board and the Belmont County Emergency Management Agency. Tom was a licensed pilot and was the President of the Harrison County Airport Authority. He was a member of Weyer Lodge # 541 F. & A.M. at Centerville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Fulton. She was born in Batesville, Ohio on October 10, 1917, daughter of the late William Vachel Flood and Lelia Maude Clucus Flood. Crystal was a homemaker and a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Flushing. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed many years of quilting and bowling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gallagher; a daughter-in-law, Amelia Gallagher; and four brothers, infant Miles, Bill, Mansel and Roy Flood. She was a retired teacher from the St. Clairsville-Richland City School District. Ruth was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville where she was a former choir member. She was a Muskingum College graduate with a degree in education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Catherine Giffen; and a half brother, Robert C. Giffen. She was the former owner of the former Hudson Restaurant in St. Clairsville; she was one of the first female taxi drivers in the state of Ohio being employed by the St. Clair Cab Co. and was a former employee of the Sohio Gas Station in St. Clairsville. Arlene was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5356 in St. Clairsville and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church. Judge C. Kenneth Henry Judge C. Kenneth Henry, 85 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at his home. He was born November 2, 1923 in Wheeling, W.V., a son of the late Clarence George Henry and Dessie Cleona Dott Henry. Kenneth was a retired Common Pleas, Probate and Juvenile Judge in Belmont County, Ohio serving for twelve years. He was a graduate of Bethany College and received his Doctorate of Law Degree from Case Western Reserve University Law School. He became a practicing attorney in 1951 and went on to serve as legal counsel for the villages of Belmont, Flushing, Morristown, Holloway, and Bethesda. He also served Clerk Treasurer for the City of St. Clairsville, and Assistant Prosecutor and Western Division Judge in Belmont County. He was past president of the Belmont County Bar Association, member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Secretary-Treasurer of the Belmont County Law Library, past president of East Ohio Booster’s Association, and former secretary of the St. Clairsville Noon Rotary Club. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII serving in Africa from 1943-1945, a member and Elder Emeritus of the Wheeling Island Christian Church and member of St. Clairsville American Legion Post #159. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Muriel Kay. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Pauline Dyrdek Henry; four children, Jeff Henry of St. Clairsville, Kevin Henry (Asma) of Atlanta, Georgia, Paula Henry Danyi (John) of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Karen Henry Dowd (Jeff) of Silver Lake, Ohio; 7 grandchildren. Jenny Hepburn Hepburn, Jenny, 84, of St. Clairsville, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 in Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire. She was born in Martins Ferry on June 8, 1924, daughter of the late James and Jenny Garth Irwin. Jenny was a homemaker; a former operator for Ohio Bell; a member of East Richland Evangelical Friends Church in St. Clairsville; former Vice-Regent of the Daughters of American Revolution; a member of the Wheeling Garden Club; the Wheeling Women’s Club; Questers; Shadyside Four Leaf Clover Club and a member of Shadyside Chapter 581, Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilfred Hepburn; a daughter, Joyce Clark; a grandson, Drake Clark; 3 sisters, Ellen Ritchey, Mary Kennon and Alice Smith. Michael Hess Hess, Michael Anthony, 51 of Centerville, Ohio died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born at Bellaire, Ohio on March 29, 1958 a son of the late Jess W. and Anna Tonkovich Hess. Mike was a retired Belmont County Sheriff’s Deputy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Michael Hess. He is survived by his wife, Betty Fitch Hess; his children, Jamie Shaw and Derek Hess; brothers Bill Hess of Williamstown, NJ and Jim Hess of Senecaville, Ohio; grandchildren Jordan, Kameron and Josh Shaw, Elizabeth Barath and Andy Statler. Anne was a homemaker; she and her husband owned and operated Holub’s Greenhouse in Glencoe for many years; she was a veteran of World War II serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps; she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Neffs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Michael Holub Sr.; two brothers, Victor and Andrew Surovec; and a sister, Frances Evelock. James “Jimmy” Horvath James “Jimmy” Horvath, 79 of John Ave. Group Home in St. Clairsville died Wednesday, March 11, 2009. He was born November 13, 1929 in Cuyahoga County to Mary Siksai and Steve Parnay. Jimmy attended Tomorrow’s Corner Day Program and was formerly employed at Belco Works. He was a very quiet guy, however expressed himself when he was displeased. He had particular people he preferred to work with. Jimmy had a way of stealing your heart with his eyes and smile. He enjoyed just sitting back watching others as he twirled his “Terrible Towel” over his head. He was born at Hundred, WV on December 29, 1926 a son of the late Harry and Margaret Anderson Hudson. Dale was a retired foreman from East Ohio Gas Co., attended Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville and was an army veteran of World War II. Olive R. Hutchison Hutchison, Olive R. Rider, 87, of St. Clairsville, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born in Minnie Ha Ha Springs, West Virginia on April 29, 1921, daughter of the late Alexander and Minnie Ritchie Rider. She was born again in Christ on September 28, 1939. Olive was a homemaker and a Belmont County Election Poll Worker for 25 years and a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Flushing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, James Samuel Hutchison, Laura Jean Hutchison and Lonnie Hutchison; a sister, Ratie Rider; a brother, Lloyd Rider. She is survived by her husband, Earl R. She was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church and a former Poll Worker for the Belmont County Board of Elections. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports on television, with the Pittsburgh Steelers being her favorite team. Sophia Kolodziej Sophia Korba Kolodziej of Fairpoint, Ohio, passed away December 20, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. Sophia was surrounded by her dear family and friends during her week's stay at the hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry “Snuffy” Kolodziej in October 1993. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents Roman and Victoria Korba, and siblings Ray Korba, Stanley “Stub” Korba, Tillie Arigoni, Johnny Korba and Paul Korba. She is survived by daughter Sandra Kidd and husband Fred of Flushing; son Henry Kolodziej, Jr. and wife Darlene of Fairpoint; grandchildren Allison and Stephanie Kolodziej, Kevin Kidd, and special granddog Chloe; brother Joseph Korba of Bannock; sisters Dorothy Chipka of Strongsville, Mary Ann Spano of Lafferty, Josie Garrett of Brunswick, and Paulette Johns of Akron; sister-in-law Alice Kolodziej Cook of Fairpoint; and dear friends Jeanne Dierkes, Helen Mazol, and Joanne, Helena and Joe Kolanski. Sophia was a long-time, dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, including the Adult Choir and the Catholic Women's Club, and the Fairpoint Polish Club. Wilma Kostelnik Kostelnik, Wilma Humphrey Thompson, of St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly of Flushing passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born at Flushing, Ohio to the late Milford and Lorena Dougherty Humphrey. She was a retired key punch operator at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and the former co-owner of Thompson’s Sales and Service of Flushing, and a member of the Flushing Christian Church where she served as church organist for years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Duane Thompson, her second husband John Kostelnick, a son Richard Thompson, a brother Paul Humphrey and a sister Madge Bower. John D. Kubica John Darl Kubica, 32 of Fairpoint, Ohio died Friday, May 8, 2009 at his home. Martin Kuhn, Sr. Kuhn, Martin L., Sr., 78 of Bannock, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday at his home and now rests in the arms of his Savior. He was born at Wheeling, WV on August 27, 1930 a son of the late Emmo Paul Kuhn and Helen Catherine Coulter Kuhn. Martin was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy having served 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and a former employee of the Times Leader in Martins Ferry. He was a member of the Bannock United Methodist Church where he served as a lay minister. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Varner Kuhn; sons Mark and Bob Kuhn; stepsons Bidgely and Nelson Hercules; an infant grandson, Jacob Kuhn; a sister Virginia and brothers Edward, Kit and Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Piper Kuhn; daughters Helen Kuhn and her son Matthew of Bannock, Deborah (Earl) Gossett of Barnesville and Carol (Brian) White of Bannock; sons, Martin L. Jim was the former president of St. Clairsville Junior Sports and played an instrumental role in the acquisition and development of the current Junior Sports Complex. After his term as president he continued to be involved as a team manager and umpire. He also devoted a lot of his time to the care of St. Clairsville’s Memorial Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sue; a brother, Rocco; a sister, Mary Rose Smithson. Surviving are a son, James M. “Michael” Loccisano of Bellville, Ohio; a daughter, Eva Marie “Cissy” Loccisano of Powhatan Point; his companion, Jo Ellen Robson; brother, Domenick Loccisano of Yorville; sisters, Betty Ann Milan of Simpsonville, SC., and Nancy Raimonde of Rayland, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Aaron, Corey, and Chance; a great grandson, Michael James; several nieces and nephews. Carolyn J. “Kay” Loew Carolyn June “Kay” “Grandma Kay” Loew, 61 of Shadyside, Ohio died Saturday, February 21, 2009. She was born November 23, 1947 in Bellaire, a daughter of the late Clarence Carrell Glass and Ruth Adele Nelson Glass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Loew; a daughter, Jody Crow. Phillip E. Loweecy, Sr. Phillip E. “Phil” Loweecy, Sr., 80 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Trinity West in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born September 9, 1928 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Abraham Loweecy and Ida Coury Loweecy. Phil was a retired truck driver for Tri-State Asphalt in Martins Ferry and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward. Surviving are his wife, Kathy Ringel Loweecy; three children, LeeAnn (Glenn) Forsyth of Pittsburgh, Phillip E. Loweecy, II of Cincinnati, and Keri (Darren) Schroeder of Columbus; a brother, Joseph “Joe” Laweecy of Martins Ferry; six grandchildren, Sean and Alison Forsyth, Brittany, Debera, and Taylor Schroeder, and Greyson Loweecy who resides with his grandparents. Edna Lucas Mary Edna Lucas, 92, most recently of Cambridge , Ohio and formerly of Centerville , Ohio , returned to God peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Southeastern Ohio Medical Center in Cambridge . Edna was previously a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church in Centerville . Following graduation from Bellaire High School , she worked at the Bellaire Enamel Company until starting her family. Following the death of her husband, Kenneth W. Lucas in 1960, she worked for a number of years in the bakery at Riesbecks Grocery to support her family. Edna was a voracious reader who required numerous library trips and was a very active cross word puzzler. Her ability to spend hours working the most difficult crossword puzzles were legendary. She was the most positive person and viewed life through rose colored glasses and never, ever complained. She is survived by her sister Cile Braun and four children, Roger ( Frances ), Bob (Karen), Nancy Wilson (Dale) and Tom (Brenda). Beloved by nine grandchildren and doted on by fourteen great grandchildren and loved by three nieces. Edna was and always will remain the pillar and inspiration for her family. She never was too occupied or consumed with what she was doing to accommodate her children, grand children or great grandchildren. All of whom will miss her dearly. Visitation will be at 12:00 at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio with services to follow at 1:00 and burial at the Concord Presbyterian Cemetery, Centerville, Ohio. Roger Kent Lucas Roger Kent Lucas, a lifelong resident of Centerville, Ohio, gave up the good fight with cancer, Dec 16, 2009, at home. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Roger was born Nov 3, 1940, to Kenneth and Edna Workman Lucas, both of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Centerville HS in 1958 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Kurth, who passed away in 1993. He later married Frances Ault (Stonebraker), who has been his friend, homemaker, partner, caretaker and loving wife. Roger has spent his lifetime farming, which he loved, in between working at Nos 3 & 4 mines and the Ohio River dock of North American Coal Company. Over the years he volunteered his time to attend to numerous boards and associations in the pursuit of agricultural, conservation and water issues of Belmont County. Roger is survived by his loving wife Frances, sons, Jeffery (Mary Ann) of Belmont and Kevin of Pasadena, CA, daughter Terri (Chuck) Earliwine of Centerville. Grandchildren include Nicole, Courtney, James and Devin Earliwine, and Megan and Andrew Lucas. Step children include Donna Grant (Darrell), Jeanette Brooks (Todd), Keith Stonebraker (Sandy) and Lori Commisso (Joe). There are numerous step grand children and great grandchildren. Dorothy M. Parr-Lutz PARR-LUTZ, Dorothy M., 93, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. She was born April 7, 1915 to William and Sarah McCloud and lived in the Akron area most of her life. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple for over 40 years. Some of the many things she loved were her cats, gardening, going out to eat and traveling with the "Goldenagers". She was born in Bannock, Ohio on Oct. 15, 1923, daughter of the late Juaine and Hattie Smith. Florence was a homemaker, and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Fairpoint. He was born January 16, 1923 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Dexter Clayton “D.C.” Martin and Mamie Jackson Martin. Earnest was retired from Ohio Ferro Alloys in Brilliant, Ohio and from Ohio University’s Eastern Campus and he was a member of the Neffs United Methodist Church. John J. Matis Matis, John J., 91, of St. Clairsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 in Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire. He was born in Maynard, Ohio on March 27, 1918, son of the late John Anthony Matis and Mary Benitz Matis. John was a retired employee from Saginaw Mining Company. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Catholic by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda J. He was born at Hastings, WV on October 2, 1930 a son of the late James P. and Ann Tennant McKimmie. Jack was a supervisor for Weirton Steel retiring after 32 years of service after which he served as Pastor of the Flushing Alliance Church for 17 years. He was a charter member of the Flushing Ruritan Club, a member of the Ministerial Association, a coordinator of Project Manna and served with his wife, Vivian as head of the Primetime Ministry at Flushing Alliance Church. Sara Knox Milligan Milligan, Sara Knox, 95, of East Main Street, Barnesville, died September 25, 2009. She was the wife of Harry Milligan who passed away December 24, 2002. She was born January 17, 1914 near Glencoe, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna McMaster Knox. Sara was retired from the former Belmont Sanitarium. She lived in Bethesda for 20 years and was a member of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Knox of Glencoe and James Knox of California. Frank A. Mollica Sr. Mollica, Frank Antonio Sr., went to the arms of his Lord on April 22, 2009. He was the son of the late Pietro Antonio Mollica and Catherine Cozzo Mollica. His country of origin was Italy. He was born in Mann, West Virginia, October 10, 1927. He was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School. Frank served in the United States Army (1947-1950) serving in Germany where he got his start in auto mechanics. He was proud to be a veteran and serve his country. He graduated from McKinley Vocational School in Auto Mechanics where he was coordinator of MIG welding classes. He worked at Richland Motors in St. Clairsville as Service Manager. He also worked with A.J. Flaccus Inc as Service Manager before joining Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel as a foreman and then general foreman/manager of the truck division and advanced to superintendent of the material handling division until his retirement in 1993 after 30 years of service. He is a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville and served as an usher for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Benita Chance Mollica in 1980 and his sister, Theresa (Jim) Bean of Pittsburgh, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Mollica; his sons, Peter A. Mollica and Frank A. Mollica Jr. of St. Clairsville; a daughter, Vanessa (Todd) Bumgardner of Bellefontaine, Ohio; stepsons, Jason T. Bryant of Cleveland, Ohio and Thomas A. Bryant, III of Wheeling, WVa; his beloved grandson, Ethan Thomas Bryant of Wheeling; sisters, Rose Recconce of Pittsburgh, Pa and Angeline (Tony) Caristo of Florida; and his brother, Gennaro (Helen) Mollica of Pittsburgh, Pa. Frank will be remembered fondly for his homemade bread, wedding soup and gnocchi, black raspberry pies and his homemade sauerkraut and the abundance of vegetables that came from his gardens every year. Frank was a gardener as was his father. He was able to grow anything he planted. He will be remembered for his tomatoes he so loved, which were from the original seeds his father brought over from Italy in his pocket. He never tired of planting and weeding with his “hunky” hoe that was his father’s. He believed in familia and family always came first. He was an avid hunter of deer, squirrel, turkey and rabbit. He loved to fish and made several trips to Florida and Canada to fish with his good friends. Frank also loved muscle cars of years ago and did what he and his friends could to increase the amount of rubber on the back fender when testing the speed. He was a true Italian and continued all of his life to follow the traditions of his heritage and of that of his father. He spoke English, Italian, French and German and often sang the songs of his youth in all languages. He was well versed in Shakespeare and Latin. Frank was a true gentleman, honorable in all ways and never had a bad thing to say about his fellow man. He was a man of honor, integrity, compassion and generosity. He will be missed by so many good friends and family who shared time with him on this earth. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 27, 1957, son of Nancy J. Martin Morgan Pelkey and the late Henry Rennard Morgan Sr. Henry was a farmer and mechanic and loved Nascar Racing. Pauline E. Moskey Moskey, Pauline E., 82, of St. Clairsville, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was born at Bellaire on August 24, 1926, daughter of the late Paul and Josephine Hluchy Valachovic. Pauline was retired from Wheeling Hospital and a member of St. Clairsville Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Paul Valachovic. Boyd was a retired employee from North American Coal Company # 4 Mine; he was a farmer, an Iron Worker; he was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II and he was a member of American Legion Post 521 in Shadyside. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Lewis Neff; 5 brothers, Lloyd, Ferd, Archie, Herman and Walter Neff; and 4 sisters, Elsie Homan, Mae Thompson, Cora Neff and Orpha Schilling. Lewis was born in Walton, West Virginia, November 14, 1942, son of Hershal and Levina White Nida. He was retired from Ohio River Colliers and was a retired truck driver. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War; and a member of the Lafferty Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Nida. Surviving are his wife, Carol S. Glover Nida; four children, Ed Phillips of Bethesda, Leanna Tippie of the home, Tabatha Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee and Lewis E. JoAnn Och Och, JoAnn V., 77 of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Forest Hill Nursing Home, St. Clairsville. She was born in Wheeling, WV on February 17, 1932 a daughter of the late Frederick Charles and Adabel Davis Och. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, F. Robert Och. Sgt. John Henry Osman II Shadyside — Sgt. John Henry Osman II lost his battle with cancer on November 6, 2209 at home at the age of 39. He was born on May 22, 1970 in Columbus, Ohio. Following high school graduation he served abroad as a Petty Officer - Navigation Specialist in the U.S. Navy from 1990 - 1994. From 1994 - 2009 he served in the Ohio Army National Guard as an 88M/92G. He received his Associate of Science degree from Ohio University. He was a decorated veteran of the Navy and Army as well as a recipient of Air Force Commendation in 2007. John served in Operation Desert Strom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. John also gave humanitarian service in Nicaragua during Operation Horizons. He was in preparation to deploy for a third foreign tour with the 1-137th Aviation Battalion, OHARNG when his condition was discovered in December of 2008. In addition to his parents, Virgil (Jake) and Darena (Dinkie) Yeager he is survived and sadly missed by one brother, James (Jenny), three sisters, Ann (Danny), Amanda (Steve) and Candace (Paul); five nephews, Daniel, Eric, Robert, Dakota, Andrew and Gunner; three niceces, Mackenzie, Haleigh and Allura. Dorothy M. Parr-Lutz PARR-LUTZ, Dorothy M., 93, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. She was born April 7, 1915 to William and Sarah McCloud and lived in the Akron area most of her life. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple for over 40 years. Some of the many things she loved were her cats, gardening, going out to eat and traveling with the "Goldenagers". Larry R. Porterfield Porterfield, Larry Rankin, 58, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 21, 1951, son of the late Robert G. and Sara Lee Walker Porterfield. Larry was the owner of Willow Creek Group, a successful business which he formed and bears the family dairy farm name. He was a former Vice-President of U.S. Sprint; served as Vice-President in several key organizations; and began his career at General Electric. Larry was a 1972 graduate of The Ohio State University majoring in finance and computer science. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sarah Lee Porterfield. He is survived by his former wife, Jo; his two sons, Jason (Andrea) Porterfield and Alex (Jamie) Porterfield; his brother, Kirke (Judi) Porterfield; his grandchildren, James, Brannon, Allison and “a player to be named” (Due August 15th); nephews; and countless others whose lives he touched. Jim was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel’s Steubenville North and South Plants, a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church at Key and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Bo Robinson Robinson, Bo, 62 of Morristown, Ohio died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born July 19, 1947, and raised in the Blaine/Lansing area, the son of the late Charles and Matilda DeLeau Robinson. He attended school in the Bridgeport School District. Bo retired from Consol Coal Co. after service 34 years as underground Maintenance Foreman. Bo was a generous and kind man with a big heart who lived his life to its fullest. He was a trustee at the Polish-American Club of Fairpoint which gave him great pride and joy. He also was a member of the Yorkville VFW Post 4811, American Legion Post 159 of St. Clairsville and Eagles Aerie 2541 of St. Clairsville. Bo enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, boating, traveling, piddling in his garage and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He is loved by many and will be missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cheryl Brewster Robinson, sons Kelly (Kathleen) Robinson of Morristown and Pete Robinson of Grove City; a daughter Marie (Doug) Lefevre of Springfield, VA; a brother Emile (Vicki) Robinson of Northport, AL. Irene Saffell Yoho Yoho, Deloris Marie “Irene”, 78 of Glencoe, Ohio died Friday, July 24, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born at Glencoe on December 16, 1930 a daughter of the late Charles E. Neitzelt and Mary Margaret Pierce Neitzelt. Irene was retired from the St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools as a cafeteria worker, a life long member of the Glencoe United Methodist Church until it’s closing and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville. She was a 50 year member of the Glencoe American Legion Auxiliary, a 30 year member of the Glencoe Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was one of the founding members of the Glencoe Cemetery Association. Irene expressed her appreciation for the privilege and joy of raising her children, enjoying her friends and living her life in the small community of Glencoe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Newell C. Saffell in April of 1979, by her second husband, Dale C. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 25, 1947, daughter of the late William Jerry Jones and Alice M. Henry Jones. Karen was a former employee of the FBI and former employee of Maroon Enterprises. She was a Baptist by faith and a 1964 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 5, 1929, son of the late George Walter Sayre and Ida Marie Spires Sayre. George retired from the Wheeling News Register after 42 years of service with the company. He was a former Ohio County Deputy Sheriff; Wheeling Park Ranger; and former Chief of Police at Bethlehem. George was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville and a former member of the Eagles Aerie # 344 in Wheeling. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 10, 1916 a daughter of the late Elmer O’Donnell and Gertrude Bodemann O’Donnell. Genevieve was a homemaker; a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville; a member of the Catholic Women’s Club; the St. Francis Society and the AARP. Luther was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Martins Ferry Plant, former employee of Blaney Lumber, and a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, member of the Bethesda VFW, and the United Steel Workers of America. She was born November 30, 1920 in Stewartsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Kraynak Planey. Hazel was a retired Postmaster in Stewartsville with 40 years of service. She was a U.S. Veteran of World War II serving as WAC in the Philippines and New Guinea. She was a member of Clarksburg United Methodist Church; and a 65 year member of the American Legion Posts in Glencoe and Lowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Slotwinski Jr.; seven sisters, Mary Sickimich, Ann Knight, Jean Clarke, Ellan Planey, Catherine Planey, Margaret Planey and Margaret Kimes; and two brothers, John and Joseph Planey. William L. Underwood Underwood, William L., 73 of St. Clairsville died Saturday at OSU Medical Center, Columbus. He was born at Glencoe, Ohio on June 27, 1936 a son of the late Arthur and Lorena Miller Underwood. He was a retired construction worker from Hatcher Brothers in Brilliant,a member of the Church of Christ, St. Clairsville and St. Clairsville Eagles Aerie #2541. He was preceded in death by a son, Donn Prosperi; daughter-in-law, Debbie Prosperi and a great grandson, Isaac Winland. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Kinder Underwood; his children, Joe Prosperi of North Carolina; Kathi (Ken) Dodd of Barnesville; Lisa (Jim) Lewis of St. Clairsville; Bill Underwood and Ralph Underwood both of Bellaire and Jodi (Mike) Bartnicki of Fairpoint; a sister, Evelyn Strawser of Lancaster, OH; a brother, Arthur (Marianne) Underwood of California; sister-in-law, Lee Ekstrom of Martins Ferry; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Helen Mae Walter Walter, Helen Mae, 83, of Clover Ridge, Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire. She was born in Powhatan Point on March 2, 1926, daughter of the late Grover C. and Stella Thomas Richardson. Helen was married to Wayne T. Walter, who preceded her in death, and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She and her husband raised three daughters: Nancy (Randy) Boan of Armstrong Mills, Ohio, Pat (Cliff) Marcum of Beallsville, Ohio, and Sandy (Scott) Moretz of Suwanee, Georgia. She was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren: Sara Boan, Andrew (Kristin) Boan, Alan Boan, Alicia Marcum, Anthony Marcum, and Daniel Moretz. She is also survived by a brother, Carroll Richardson, of Bellaire. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry and James Richardson; sisters, Mary Berka and Virginia Ockert; and two infant sisters. Helen was a member of Grandview Christian Church near her home on Clover Ridge, where she lived for 57 years. For the past two years, she had resided at Westwood Landing in Woodsfield. Delmo Weekley Delmo Nelson Weekley, 73 of Jacobsburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. He was born May 30, 1935 in Jacobsburg, a son of the late Mary Wilda Weekley. Delmo was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and thru all his struggles he refused to give up. He was a retired employee of Ohio Ferro Alloy’s Powhatan Plant, a member of the Jacobsburg Bible Church, and a US Army veteran. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Jerry, and Jack Weekley. Surviving are his wife, Betty Stanek Weekley; a daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Helms of St. Clairsville; a son, Jim Weekley of Jacobsburg; 2 grandchildren, Jarret and Jamilyn Helms; sister, Janice (Estill) Sizemore of New Vienna, Ohio; brother, James (Joyce) Weekley of Bellaire. Geneva E. White White, Geneva Elizabeth, 86, of Flushing, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Ohio Valley Medical Center. She was born on June 14, 1923 in Wheeling, West Virginia, daughter of the late John George Lasch and Frances Cleveland Blatchley Lasch. She was retired from the former Hillview Nursing Home in Flushing and the former Belmont County Home in St. Clairsville and a member of the Flushing Christian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Dixon White and a sister, Henrietta Kuhn. Surviving are three sons, John L. (Jean) White of Flushing, Dwayne Edward (Bonnie) White of New Athens, and Eugene S. (Debbie) White of Seneca, South Carolina; a daughter, Henrietta J. White of Flushing; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter expected in July. Velma Earlene White White, Velma Earlene “Alabam”, 86 of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Park Health Center in St. Clairsville. She was born April 30, 1923 in Moulton, Alabama, a daughter of the late Roe Roberson and Dixie Addie B. Roberson. She was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Clairsville, an oil painter, a hunter in her earlier years, she loved to fish and imparted these talents to her children and grandchildren, and she loved her country. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Sutton; a brother, Almon Roberson, a sister, Cliffie Knoblauch, and cherished nephew, Henry Knoblauch; a step son, Jack Eugene White. She is survived by her husband, William White; a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Jordan of West Hartford, CT.; a son, Ralph (Paula) Sutton of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Michael (Allison) Amenabar of West Hartford, CT., Thomas (Amber) Jordan of Newington, CT., Kimberly Amenabar Lisher and her husband Jon of Avon, CT., Todd Sutton of Decatur, AL., and Wade Sutton of Philadelphia, PA.; great grandchildren, Bailey, William, Cooper Amenabar, Madeline and Lily Rose Jordan; step children, Benjamin Nelson White of Mingo Junction, William Boyd White of Morristown, Vivian Elaine Clary of St. Albans, WV. Wilma "Peg" Whittelsey Whittelsey, Wilma “Peg”, 77, of Bellaire, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire. Peg was born in Bellaire, Ohio, October 3, 1931, daughter of the late Thomas and Lucille Boughner Porter. Peg had worked as a secretary and she had worked as a restaurant hostess and was very popular with the owners and clientele. She also operated a housecleaning and caretaking service for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Martha Clark, Laura Burgy, June Conroy, Mary Lee and Phyllis Sevcic; and 5 brothers, Ned Porter, Rev. James Porter, Dr. B. J. Porter, Homer Porter and Thomas Porter. Peg is survived by two daughters, Susan Blakey of Culver City, California and Linda Whittelsey of Mountain View, California; a grandson, Samuel Blakey; several nieces and nephews. Gerald D. “Red” Williams Gerald D. “Red” Williams, 68, of Centerville, Ohio died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Martins Ferry Hospital. He was born August 10, 1940 in Powhatan Point, a son of the late Delmas and Hazel Messenger Williams. Red was a retired coal miner from North American Coal’s No. 6 mine, a Christian by faith, a member of Weyer Lodge # 541 F. & A.M. in Centerville, and was Centerville’s small engine repairman for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Williams in 1986. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Pandzik Williams; three sons, Jerry (Rhonda) Williams of Piedmont, Ohio, Jeff Williams of Centerville, and Steve (Lisa) Williams of Uniontown, Ohio; a daughter, Crystal (George) Monroe of Centerville; two sisters, Mildred Britton, and Donna Palmer; four brothers, Bob Messenger, Richard Williams, Joe Williams, and Charles Williams; 11 grandchildren, Nichole, Desiree, Justen, and Meggan Williams, Rachel and Samantha Williams, Steven and Cody Williams, George, Jennie, Dusten Monroe; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Kelly Williams Kelly Sue Williams 11, of Flushing, Ohio died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital. She was born July 11, 1997 in Wheeling, a daughter of Daniel Dale Williams and Michele McHenry Williams. Kelly was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Flushing. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfathers, Michael DellaMorta and Gary Morehead; maternal great grandfather, John William Hollingsworth; paternal great grandparents, Charles and Gladys Williams. Catherine Marie Woods Woods, Catherine Marie, 77, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, February 27, 2009 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born October 16, 1931 in Barton, Ohio, daughter of the late Louis and Eva Savage Biggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woods; a daughter, Cathy Lynn Woods; two sisters, Louise Pempek and Betty Brodzenski; two brothers, Louis Biggs Jr. and Robert Biggs. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Ann Woods of St. Clairsville; three sons, William Woods of Fairpoint, Ohio, David Woods and Robert Woods both of Edgewater, Maryland; six grandchildren, Jason Woods, Brandon Cain, Charlie Woods, Jessica Woods, Jed Woods and Jared Woods; three sisters, Delores Smith of Stow, Ohio, Patricia McGary of Adena, Ohio and Alice Klempton of Dillonvale, Ohio; two brothers, Fred Biggs of Wheeling, West Virginia and Tom Biggs of Martins Ferry, Ohio. Charles A. Wurster Wurster, Charles A. “Charlie”, 84 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville. He was born at Chillicothe, Ohio on May 14, 1925, the son of Charles P. and Alice Anderson Wurster. Charlie was a retired Colonel from the U. S. Air Force. He was a fighter pilot, and flew combat missions in F-80s and P-51s during the Korean War, where he shot down two enemy planes. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He also flew combat sorties piloting C-130s in Vietnam. He was a member of the Math Faculty at both the U. S. Military Academy at West Point and the U. S. Air Force Academy, and worked in the Air Force missile and space program, contributing to the development of the Apollo system. After retiring from the Air Force, he served as a senior engineer for McDonnell Douglas and PRC in the space shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center, FL. He was a 1948 Graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and earned a Master’s Degree from MIT. He was a member of the East Richland Friends Church at St. Clairsville. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Devine Wurster; his children, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Charles D. (George Ann) Wurster of San Diego, CA, Lieutenant General Donald C. (Ronda) Wurster of Hurlburt AFB, FL; Robert A. (Dale) Wurster of Berkeley Springs, WV; Polly (Mark) Loy of St. Clairsville, OH; John P (Eva) Wurster of Rockwall, TX; George P. (Denise) Wurster of Winter Garden, FL and Richard A. Wurster of St. Clairsville, OH; a sister, Mary Ann Shearrow of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dorothy D. Wurster Wurster, Dorothy D. "Dot", 85, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Sunday, August 16, 2009 Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville. She was born at West Point, NY on May 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Major General John M. and Anne C. Whitelegg Devine. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Wurster, Colonel, USAF Ret. on August 9, 2009; a brother, John A. Devine, and sister, Ruth Devine Finlay. Dorothy was an accomplished artist, a member of Artworks Around Town at Centre Market, and the recipient of numerous awards for her abstract paintings. She was also an author. Her book Army Brat: My Story is n the collection of the St. Clairsville Public Library. She graduated from Russel Sage College in Troy, New York with a bachelors degree. She also studied painting under Gene Davis and Thomas Downing, both artists from the Washington Color School movement. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also the daughter, wife and mother of professional military men. She was a member of the East Richland Friends Church at St. Clairsville. She is survived by her children, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Grace Yates Grace Loretta Yates, 81 of Dillonvale, Ohio died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Heartland Care Center in Lansing. She was born June 20, 1928 in Willow Grove, a daughter of the late Thomas Butler and Eva Abel Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Senikovich; brothers, Bill and Pete Butler; sisters, Beverly Fox, Mary Jane Macy, and Bernice Gauding. Surviving are her husband, Guy Arthur Yates; sons, James D. (Jean) Yates of Dillonvale, Richard (Doris) Yates of Jupiter, FL., and Arthur (Carol) Yates of St. Clairsville; six grandchildren, Rhonda Senikovich of St. Clairsville, Travis Yates of Ft. Irene Saffell Yoho Yoho, Deloris Marie “Irene”, 78 of Glencoe, Ohio died Friday, July 24, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born at Glencoe on December 16, 1930 a daughter of the late Charles E. Neitzelt and Mary Margaret Pierce Neitzelt. Irene was retired from the St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools as a cafeteria worker, a life long member of the Glencoe United Methodist Church until it’s closing and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville. She was a 50 year member of the Glencoe American Legion Auxiliary, a 30 year member of the Glencoe Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was one of the founding members of the Glencoe Cemetery Association. Irene expressed her appreciation for the privilege and joy of raising her children, enjoying her friends and living her life in the small community of Glencoe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Newell C. Saffell in April of 1979, by her second husband, Dale C. Yoho in September of 1999 and a brother, Ronald James Neitzelt. She is survived by three sons, N. Edward Saffell of Orlando, FL, James A. (Connie) Saffell of Glencoe and Kenneth L.
